DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL DATA
A key component of the app is Google Cloud technologies and Google Firebase. These technologies ensure that you can get convenience features like a login via Email or Google as well as push notifications. As the developers, while we ensure that the services used are secure, we are unable to individually verify the complex processes involved in all Google technologies used. Therefore, we can’t make any statement about how exactly the data is processed at Google. More about this in the following section.
In the following points, your data is partially or completely transferred to Google and stored on servers in the USA:
- Anonymized data is transferred to Google to improve the app (bug reports, usage statistics).
- When you sync multiple devices or perform a backup, your encrypted data (workouts) is transferred to Google Cloud Storage (server location in Europe).
Firebase and Google Cloud Platform
The App uses the technologies of Google Firebase (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, “Google”). Firebase is a part of the Google Cloud Platform and offers numerous services for us as a developers. You can find a listing here: https://firebase.google.com/terms/ . Some Firebase services process personal data. In most cases, the personal data is limited to IDs (identifiers, which is a timestamp or a sequence of letters and numbers). These IDs, assigned by Firebase, are unique and thus allow linking different events or processes. This data does not represent personally identifiable information to us, nor do we attempt to personalize it after the fact. We use this aggregated data to analyze and optimize app usage patterns, such as by evaluating crash reports.
For Firebase Analytics, Google uses your mobile device’s advertising ID in addition to the IDs described above. You can restrict the use of the advertising ID in the device settings of your mobile device. For Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset ad ID /or/ Disable personalized ads.
You can view more information about Firebase’s privacy and security at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/ . Firebase uses servers within the USA (“us-central”) and Europe (“europe-west”). So it is not possible for us to store all your data only in Germany or the EU. More information about Google Firebase and privacy can be found at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/ and at https://firebase.google.com/ .
